Fleeing From Fear

As I pass the halfway mark of my pregnancy and near the delivery of our precious baby, I am dealing with the emotions that are to be expected.  I'm mostly excited and anxious to meet Baby B, but I'm constantly suppressing feelings of fear about the delivery.  I'll be giving birth at Lakeside Birth Center, not in a hospital, with my midwife Nancy.  I feel completely confident in her care and expertise, and am more than happy about our decision to bring our baby into the world this way, but I'm trying not to let fear get the best of me (which would be trying to take over my mind even if I were delivering in a hospital).

I'm resting in my faith in God's Word knowing that He is perfect love and casts out all fear.  2 Timothy 1:7 says "For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline."  I'm praying now for increased faith, peace, and trust for the labor and delivery.  I refuse to let my heart be troubled or afraid.  Matt and I have decided to focus on these scripture verses every day so we'll have them stored up in our "brain box" for when fear starts to creep in...especially on "D-Day"!

Dwell on these scriptures if there's a circumstance in your life plaguing you with fear and trust that God can give you the peace you need to make it through.

"The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”

“Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.”
– Mark 11:23

“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go"
– Joshua 1:8,9

“I will bow down toward your holy temple and will praise your name for your unfailing love and your faithfulness, for you have so exalted your solemn decree that it surpasses your fame.”
