Hello 2010!

Wowzers . . .2010?!
Matt and I have the biggest feeling in our bellies that this is going to be a fabulous year.
First of all, we are on the Dave Ramsey-inspired journey of becoming debt free!  If you have not heard of Dave check out his website and become inspired to live in financial freedom.  In December, Matt and I concluded Financial Peace University (a 13-week series at church) and we have big goals for 2010.  We are truly blessed with our careers, but my student loans are definitely a burden.  Not having a mortgage payment will be nice as well ;)

This will be my final, I repeat, FINAL year of school!  If all goes as planned (I get my butt in gear) I should be done and have my B.S. degree in Dental Hygiene by this summer.  It only took me 10 consecutive years after high school, and a few changes in direction (that's right folks, I should actually be a doctor by now). However, God always had an open door for me when I thought I had reached a dead-end.  When I thought a roadblock had blocked my path, He gently guided me through the detour.  When I think about this "long time coming" B.S. degree, I think back to how much I've grown though the journey and where I would be now if I had not taken all those leaps of faith.

The grass is greener on the other side . . .of our house! Matt bought "our" house 5 years ago this May, and has not had grass in the backyard.  Our friend's dad has some dirt-moving equipment and will be helping us . . .uh . . .move dirt!  We will bring in topsoil, level out the perfect-for-a-slip-n-slide ground, add a retaining wall around the back perimeter, and plant grass.  So, if all goes as planned (we get our butts in gear) we'll have grass this summer!

I have hopes to travel to Bolivia this June with Smiles Forever.  Smiles Forever was started by Sandy Kemper, RDH whom I was introduced to back in 2006.  Long story short, Sandy started a Dental Hygiene program in Cochabamba to empower women who otherwise have no opportunity; at the same time, improving the oral health of the Bolivians.  It's not set in stone yet, but it's in the works, and I'll be attending their board meeting this month to get some more information.

Our 1 year anniversary is only a couple months away?!?! No way!  We can't believe how amazing 2009 was with our dream wedding, moving in together, our unbelievable honeymoon to the Cook Islands, our Maltese puppy "Goose", and an amazing first year of marriage.  Can 2010 possibly top all of that? We'll see . . .

Hello 2010!
We welcome you with open arms, along with the challenges and joys you will bring.
